Vets’ Group strongly urges Congress to pass bill spearheaded by Senators Pryor and Begich

WASHINGTON, DC – With over 360,000 supporters, the veterans group, called on the Senate to immediately pass S. 1963, a bill to repeal section 403 of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013.   The legislation is being spearheaded by Senators Mark Pryor and Mark Begich.  This legislation strikes a section in the Bipartisan Budget Deal of 2013 and would restore full Cost-of-Living-Payment (COLA) benefits to all veterans who have served for 20 or more years in the U.S. military until they reach the age of 62 and will most likely be voted on next week, having been fast-tracked.

“Passage of this legislation is urgent, and it’s appropriate that it has been fast-tracked, to give military members the peace of mind that their retirement will be there,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of  “Obviously, the slowdown of COLA increases for military pensions was a terrible oversight in the Bipartisan Budget Act, but veterans are pleased that Senators Pryor and Begich are taking the lead here, and correcting this issue with simple legislation.  It’s now up to the Congress to quickly pass this no-brainer, and have the President sign it.”
