VoteVets Endorses Scott Cooper for Congress

Wake Forest, NC – The national veterans group, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing Scott Cooper for North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District seat.

“Scott has a deeper understanding of what service to others means, having spent a majority of his adult life in the Marines,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War veteran and Chair of VoteVets. “When you deploy to war, you gain a perspective that not many people have. When you deploy multiple times, like Scott, you realize just how much decisions made in Washington are life and death, for many Americans. It’s that sense of perspective, and dedication to others, that will make Scott such a great representative. He’ll never forget veterans who served with him, and he’ll always think about how every vote he casts affects the lives of the working people in North Carolina.”

Scott Cooper spent 20 years in the Marine Corps, after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1993 . In 1997, the Marine Corps sent him to North Carolina where he put down roots, raised his two daughters, and deployed eight times, including five tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan. After each deployment he came home to North Carolina. Scott flew the EA-6B Prowler, and also served as a forward air controller. Scott’s last assignment was as the speechwriter for the Deputy Commandant for Aviation, and he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
