VoteVets Endorses Reed's Re-Election

PROVIDENCE, RI – With over 400,000 supporters, the veterans group, PAC is today endorsing Senator Jack Reed for re-election to the United States Senate.

“Senator Reed has been one of the staunchest supporters of veterans in the United States Senate, and more importantly, one of the few people in the Senate who can understand veterans, because he’s one of us,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of  “Senator Reed also has a keen understanding of US security interests, and is an important and sober voice combating those who seek to wage war at the drop of a hat.  We, as a nation, absolutely cannot afford losing his voice in Washington.”

Senator Reed’s life has been about service – most importantly, service to the people of Rhode Island. We’re proud to endorse his candidacy.

According to his biography, in 1967, Senator John Pastore selected Reed for the United States Military Academy at West Point based on his leadership, community involvement, and achievement. Upon graduation in 1971, Reed earned a degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He qualified as a United States Army Ranger and commanded paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne Division. After 8 years of active duty service, Reed attended Harvard Law School. He remained in the United States Army Reserve until 1991.
