Retired Rear Admiral from Tucson says Martha McSally will “Never Get This Veteran’s Vote,” in New TV Spot

VoteVets and Majority Forward Team Up on New $1 Million Buy in Arizona Senate Race

Phoenix, AZ – The national veterans group, VoteVets, in conjunction with Majority Forward, is today launching a $1 million television ad buy in Arizona, featuring a retired Navy Rear Admiral who says that Martha McSally’s service, while honorable, doesn’t give her free rein to lie.

The ad features retired Rear Admiral Mike Mathis, from Tucson.  In the ad, he says, “I don’t brag about my military service, and I certainly don’t expect special treatment.  Martha McSally seems to believe she can say whatever she wants, as long as she shows a picture of herself, in uniform.  McSally has repeatedly made false claims against her opponent. And she’s voted to allow insurance companies to deny health care to millions of Arizonans, including veterans. That’s a betrayal.  I know Martha McSally served, but she will never get this veteran’s vote.”

Fact checkers have tagged McSally for some of the ugliest false smears against Kyrsten Sinema, in his race:

McSally supported legislation to repeal Obamacare that would have allowed insurance companies to discriminate against people with preexisting conditions.
