In Spanish language ad, father of Puerto Rican soldier killed in Afghanistan shames Trump; calls on all to vote against him

ORLANDO, FL — In a blistering new Spanish language television ad, the Gold Star father of a fallen soldier takes Donald Trump to task for calling war dead “losers” and “suckers,” and calls on people to vote against him.  The ad is sponsored by the veterans’ group VoteVets PAC and UNITE HERE, at a cost of $250,000. It will be running on Orlando-area television.

The ad can be viewed here: https://twitter.com/votevets/status/1316388011521835009

It features Nelson Rodriguez, the father of Nelson Rodriguez Ramirez, who was killed in Afghanistan.  In the ad, Rodriguez says, “Nelson Rodriguez Ramirez was a Boricua. He was a father. He was a hero. He was my son. Nelson died fighting for our freedom in Afghanistan. And this fool Donald Trump calls people who serve in the military “losers” and “suckers.” Trump demeans Puerto Ricans, says we don’t count, we don’t matter. I will not let Donald Trump spit on my son’s grave. We all need to vote against Donald Trump.”

Nelson Rodriguez Ramirez was killed in June, 2008, along with three other soldiers, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when their vehicle encountered an IED and small arms fire.

His father, Nelson Rodriguez, is the Financial Secretary of UNITE HERE Local 26 in Boston, and will be canvassing door-to-door in Central Florida to get out the vote to defeat Donald Trump.
