“Anthony’s service is matched by his determination, hard work, and personal understanding of the challenges so many Americans face,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran, and Chairman of  “Combined, those traits will make him an exemplary Congressman for the 4th District.  Going from the son of a man who escaped poverty in Jamaica, through Ivy League school, and rising to the rank of Colonel in the US Army has given Anthony a truly American story.”

“Anthony could have stopped serving at almost any point, and made a lot of money.  Instead, he served the public, and continued to serve America in uniform – even going to Iraq while a sitting Member of the House of Delegates,” Soltz added.  “There’s no question, Anthony’s life has revolved around how he can help others.”

According to his biography, the son of immigrants, Anthony Brown was the first to attend college in his family, and joined the Army ROTC while an undergraduate at Harvard, beginning a distinguished military career that has spanned more than a quarter century.

Anthony spent five years on active duty after college, flying helicopters with the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division in Europe.

Upon returning from active duty, Anthony enrolled in Harvard Law School, attending at the same time as other notable leaders, including future-President Barack Obama.
