VoteVets PAC Endorses Pam Iovino for Congress

PITTSBURGH, PA - VoteVets is today endorsing Pam Iovino in her campaign for Congress.

“What we need in Washington are fewer hypocritical politicians, and more leaders. Pam Iovino is a leader," said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chairman of VoteVets. "Service and leadership is what Pam is all about. Not only is she incredibly dedicated to the Pittsburgh region, but she's given much of her life serving her fellow troops and veterans, when Washington has forgotten about us. We are proud to stand by her, and endorse her."

Over her 23 year career in the Navy, Pam’s service included tours as a Missile Maintenance Officer, Manpower Analyst, Program Manager, Anti-terrorism Intelligence Watch Officer, two tours as a Congressional Liaison Officer, four Commanding Officer assignments, and culminated in a promotion to Navy Captain. She is also a graduate of the Naval War College, from which she received an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies.

During her distinguished Navy career, Pam earned the Legion of Merit Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards); the Navy Commendation Medal; the Navy Achievement Medal; the National Defense Service Medal (2 awards); and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

Pam retired from the Navy in 2003 to accept a Presidential appointment, with Senate confirmation, to be Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As Assistant Secretary, Pam was the chief advocate for all legislative matters on Capitol Hill for our Nation’s 25 million veterans. During her tenure, VA expanded its services for PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injuries, initiated the largest facilities realignment and expansion in its history, and received the largest VA appropriation increase for that time. Currently, Pam continues her career in public service as a member of the Governor’s Women Veterans Committee and most recently was the Director of Veterans Services for Allegheny County.

Founded in 2006, the mission of VoteVets.org Political Action Committee is to elect Veterans to public office, with a focus on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, and hold public officials accountable for their words and actions that impact America's 21st century troops and veterans. Though VoteVets.org PAC is non-partisan, candidates it backs must support VoteVets.org's core mission and beliefs.
