VOTEVETS ENDORSES ELAINE LURIA FOR CONGRESS

Virginia Beach, VA – On the heels of the stunning victory in Pennsylvania’s 18th District, by veteran Conor Lamb, the largest progressive group of veterans in America, VoteVets PAC, is today endorsing another veteran, Elaine Luria to be the next US Representative for the 2nd District of Virginia.

“Elaine represents the two of the most critical sectors in our country right now – national security and small business,” said Jon Soltz, Iraq War Veteran and Chair of VoteVets PAC. “Elaine’s dedication to serving her country and community started as a teenager, when she entered the Naval Academy, and her 20 years of experience in the service has given her a unique perspective on keeping America safe that only a select number of people have. When she came home, she started a small business that has grown to be successful, yet still contributes to the community.  Elaine is a special kind of candidate, and she will make a truly great Representative in Congress.”

According to her biography, Elaine Luria graduated from the Naval Academy and was commissioned into the Navy in 1997, and retired from service in 2017.  During her time in the Navy, Elaine deployed around the world, from Asia to the Middle East, including in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). Her career including leading a combat-ready unit of 400 sailors as Commanding Officer of Assault Craft Unit TWO, as well as overseeing the operation and watch over nuclear reactors.  Shortly before leaving the Navy, Elaine launched a small business, the Mermaid Factory, in Norfolk, which has now opened a second location in Virginia Beach.  The company employs 10 people, and has donated much of its profits to charitable causes.
